CORRECTIVE LENSES

CORRECTIVE LENSES THAT DEFINES YOUR PERSONALITY!

An eyeglass prescription is an order written by an eyewear prescriber, such as an optometrist or ophthalmologist, that specifies the value of all parameters the prescriber has deemed necessary to construct and/or dispense corrective lenses appropriate for a patient.

If an examination indicates that corrective lenses are appropriate, the prescriber generally provides the patient with an eyewear prescription at the conclusion of the exam.

The parameters specified on spectacle prescriptions vary but typically include the power to which each lens should be made in order to correct blurred vision due to refractive errors, including myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia. It is typically determined using a phoropter asking the patient which lens is best, computer-automated refractor, and through the technique of retinoscopy.

Opticians are not eye doctors and, therefore, are not licensed to write an eyeglass prescription.

LENS TYPE

NOT JUST CARE, BUT A WIDE VARIETY OF LENS TYPE

We are specialized in dealing with all types of Lenses.

Single Vision

Single vision has the same optical focal point or correction over the entire area of the lens.

Bifocal

With Bifocal, the upper part of the lens is generally used for distance vision, while the lower part is used for near vision.

Trifocal

Trifocal lenses are similar to bifocals, except that the two focal areas are separated by a third middle area with intermediate focus correction, used for intermediate vision, e.g. computer distance.

Adjustable Focus

Adjustable or variable focus dynamically adjusts focal length to allow clear vision at any distance. It is especially useful for treating the loss of accommodation common in presbyopia.

Aspheric

Aspheric lenses are typically designed to give a thinner lens, and also distort the viewer’s eyes less as seen by other people, producing better aesthetic appearance.

Plano

Some people with good natural eyesight like to wear eyeglasses as a style accessory, or want to change the appearance of their eyes using novelty contact lenses.

LENS COATING

BEST LENS COATING TO HELP YOUR VISION!

Anti-reflective coatings help to make the eye behind the lens more visible. They also help lessen back reflections of the white of the eye as well as bright objects behind the eyeglasses wearer (e.g., windows, lamps). Such reduction of back reflections increases the apparent contrast of surroundings. night, anti-reflective coatings help to reduce headlight glare from oncoming cars, street lamps and heavily lit or neon signs.

A UV coating is used to reduce the transmission of light in the ultraviolet spectrum. UV-B radiation increases the likelihood of cataracts, while long term exposure to UV-A radiation can damage the retina. DNA damage from UV light is cumulative and irreversible. Some materials, such as Trivex and Polycarbonate naturally block most UV light and do not benefit from the application of a UV coating.

Highly recommended, especially for polycarbonate and softer materials, to make lenses last longer. This is done automatically by many labs for polycarbonate and high index lenses.

CARING FOR YOUR GLASSES

SOME STEPS TO CAREFULLY HANDLE YOUR GLASSES

Always store your glasses in their case when not being used. Do not leave them lying around without a case. Glasses left outside of their case get stepped on, knocked around, sat on, and chewed up by puppies/kittens.

Wash your glasses on a daily basis. Use diluted dishwashing soap and warm water to wash the entire glasses: frames, nose pads, hinges, screws, lenses.

Use both hands to put your glasses on and to take them off. Try to avoid the one handed method. Using only one hand to take them on and off causes frames to get out of alignment quickly.

Visit Vainer Optical every 3 months for a tune-up. The opticians will tighten any screws that are coming loose and check the frame alignment. Even careful glasses wearers/users require tune-ups every 3 months.

Do not keep or store glasses in your car. On bright sunny days, the heat created inside the car can cause warpage and distortions to the lenses.
